Fusion Energy Council of Canada ISSUE #10 – 24 March 2025 FUSIONMATTERS CANADA Canada has the Presidency of the G7 for 2025 and the FECC, under the leadership of the FECC President, Axel Meisen, has been working with NRCan on the Canada G7 Working Group on Fusion Energy. One focus area is how G7 members can collaborate on making fusion energy widely available and a commercial reality. FusionMATTERS will monitor the G7 activities and report back to you. Canada will host Tritium 2025, a premier international conference on tritium and its uses in Ottawa, ON from Sep 21 to 26, 2025. Tritium 2025 will have a strong focus on the use of tritium in fusion energy production, with over 300 papers having been submitted for presentation. They range from pure science to engineering aspects of fusion energy production, economics, international collaboration, regulations, and workforce development. The conference will also include opportunities to visit Canadian National Laboratories in Chalk River and an OPG CANDU reactor site where tritium is removed and stored. For more details, see https://tritium2025.com/ After a successful virtual conference in 2023, FECC and CN-FEASTD will once again host the Canadian Workshop on Fusion Energy Science and Technology (CWFEST 2025) this year. To accommodate the time zones across Canada we will spread the virtual conference over two days, 18, 19 November 2025. Each day will comprise a keynote speaker, four presenters and a panel discussion to summarize what we learned. Watch this space for more details. The collaboration primarily starts with the construction of the world's largest and most advanced tritium fuel cycle facility.
