Daniel Sheehan (often known as Danny Sheehan) is a Harvard College, Harvard Law School, and Harvard Divinity School–trained constitutional attorney, public educator, and author. For more than five decades, he has been at the center of landmark legal cases and public interest movements — from the Pentagon Papers to Silkwood, Iran-Contra, and beyond. Today, Sheehan’s work is focused on advancing full and responsible UAP disclosure through the New Paradigm Institute, while continuing his long-standing role as an educator and public advocate. • Pentagon Papers (1971): Co-counsel defending the New York Times’ right to publish a classified history of the Vietnam War. • Eisenstadt v. Baird (1972): Litigated a reproductive freedom case cited in Roe v. Wade. • Silkwood v. Kerr-McGee (1984): Landmark nuclear safety case that set a precedent in liability law. • Three Mile Island (1979): Won a federal injunction halting the release of radioactive effluents into the Susquehanna River. • American Sanctuary Movement (1980s): Successfully defended church workers aiding Central American refugees. • Greensboro Civil Rights Case (1985): Won a civil rights judgment against the KKK, American Nazi Party, and local police. • Iran-Contra (1986–1992): As chief counsel for the Christic Institute, filed a groundbreaking RICO case that exposed covert operations and fueled congressional scrutiny. Sheehan has taught constitutional law, American political history, covert operations, and comparative ethics at institutions including Antioch School of Law, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz. His acclaimed UCSC courses, The Trajectory of Justice, walked students through landmark cases while examining the ethical frameworks behind them. Since 2006, Sheehan has served as lead attorney and general counsel for the Lakota People’s Law Project (LPLP), working to stop violations of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and supporting Native communities.
