Chaired by Norman Augustine, the Review of U.S. Human Spaceflight Plans Committee has completed its evaluation of ongoing and planned NASA activities and presented options for the human spaceflight program after the retirement of the space shuttle. Come hear Jeff Greason's account of his time serving on the Augustine Committee. His insights should provide additional context to the committee's now-released report as well as the ongoing deliberations inside NASA and the White House that will determine the future of our nation's manned spaceflight program. Jeff Greason has 17 years of experience managing innovative technical project teams. As president and a cofounder of XCOR Aerospace, he leads the engineering team that has developed over 14 different long-life, highly reusable, liquid-fueled rocket engines. Mr. Greason is the co-inventor of XCOR's Nonburnite technology, which combines aerospace fabrication practices with materials common in the semiconductor industry. From 1997 through 1999, Mr. Greason managed the propulsion team at Rotary Rocket, where he led technical development of the company's rocket engines. Prior to joining Rotary Rocket, he developed leading-edge techniques to prepare new generations of Intel computer chip designs for mass production. In 2001, he was cited by Time magazine as one of the "Inventors of the Year" for his team's work on the EZ-Rocket, a manned reusable rocket aircraft. This event is free.
