Overview and Mission
The Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC) is recognized internationally as a leading university laboratory for the study of plasma physics and fusion energy science. The center's mission is to advance the science and technology of magnetic and inertial confinement fusion, to develop innovative plasma applications, and to educate the next generation of plasma scientists, engineers, and fusion leaders.
During academic year 2022–2023, PSFC researchers made landmark contributions across multiple fronts of fusion science and technology, spanning magnetic confinement fusion, high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet development, inertial confinement fusion, high-energy-density physics, advanced computation, and plasma diagnostic innovations.
