Founded in 1998 by its chairman Joe Firmage, the International Space Sciences Organization (ISSO) is a cutting-edge research institute conducting theoretical and experimental studies in physics. We seek to advance human understanding of the fundamental nature and functions of matter and energy, yielding breakthroughs in propulsion, energy generation, and likely a deeper appreciation for the physical processes underlying consciousness. Our mission is to open the frontier of Space. As expressed by our founding charter, we believe that such a mission must be accompanied by robust examination of the social, philosophical, and ontological implications of the breakthroughs we seek. Our mission will be made possible by the introduction of fundamentally new propulsion and energy technologies, but only alongside new visions of a human society capable of using them wisely. ISSO is organized into two operating groups. The first, ISSO Science, is pursuing a research agenda which includes theoretical and experimental studies of breakthrough propulsion, energy generation, and the physical processes of consciousness. ISSO Science has provided grants to a small number of researchers and organizations involved in advanced studies in these domains. Relevant research results will be submitted for publication in scientific journals and will appear over time on this website. Heading research for ISSO Science is Creon Levit, who has held science and engineering positions at NASA Ames Research for the past 17 years. An expert in computational science, nanotechnology, and physics, Levit organizes and integrates ISSO's multidisciplinary theoretical and experimental programs. The second group, ISSO Spirituality, studies social ethics, ontology, philosophy, and mystical traditions from an interdisciplinary and interfaith perspective.
