Executive Summary

This article explores how Robert Bigelow and his company, Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS), bridged UAP research, defense contracting, and aerospace engineering. Through DIA contract HHM402-08-C-0072 under the AAWSAP program, BAASS gathered anomalous case data, established rapid response teams, and evaluated far-horizon technologies and biological field effects. The piece outlines the formal document trail, associated personnel, and the structural implications of using private contractors for sensitive intelligence studies.

Introduction

Robert Thomas Bigelow is a Las Vegas developer and the founder of Bigelow Aerospace, a company best known in mainstream space circles for the Genesis I and II inflatable testbeds and Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM), the expandable module attached to the International Space Station in 2016. This is not incidental. Bigelow’s aerospace bona fides and facilities are the reason a quiet arm of the Pentagon chose a Nevada contractor when it needed an unusual capability: to stand up a cleared private program that could collect, triage, and analyze anomalous aerospace cases at speed and at scale, while also surveying far horizon technologies that might explain or exploit what those cases suggest.
