This paper presents an analytical model for the high-power electromagnetic (HPEM) transient axial radiation from helical antennas. Because standard damped sinusoidal models fail to account for the initial temporal growth of the radiated field and introduce an unphysical DC component, a second-order pole waveform model with a phase correction is introduced and validated against Numerical Electromagnetics Code (NEC) simulations and experimental data.
