April 2021: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division reopened the LENR (Low-Energy Nuclear Reactions) case. Project manager: Oliver Barham. 5 government labs (Navy, Army, NIST). NSWC Indian Head specializes in ENERGETICS — explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics, fuels, reactive materials for propulsion and weaponry. Barham: 'We're not out to prove or disprove anything, we're out to assemble a team of scientists who want to take it seriously.' Lab serves as 'honest broker.' Google 2019 Nature paper: $10M LENR research since 2015, found evidence of 'nuclear reactions in locally hot sites in otherwise room-temperature metals.' ARPA-E LENR grants February 2023 — 'break the stalemate.' NASA Glenn LCF (Lattice Confinement Fusion) demonstrated by NASA and US Navy, co-authored by L.P. Forsley (GEC CTO). LCF doesn't need magnets, lasers, or particle beams. Watts to hundreds of kilowatts. Suitable for space power and NEP.
