Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) program (1991) that experimentally accelerated and focused compact toroid plasma rings in a coaxial railgun configuration. RACE was a fusion-oriented program and inspired AFRL's MARAUDER weapons program, establishing the LLNLAFRL link in the three-lab compact toroid lineage.
