3.1 EUROfusion Italy: The European Fusion Framework

The development of the DTT facility further strengthens Italy's position as a key European fusion research node.
However, Italy's fusion research is modest in scale compared to the largest programs in the US, Japan, China, and South Korea. Italy's total fusion research budget is a fraction of these programs, and the country's contribution to the global fusion effort is primarily through specialized expertise and unique experimental facilities rather than large-scale reactor development.
3.6 No Connection to Plasma Weapons Networks
A critical finding of this investigation is the complete absence of any connection between Italy and the global plasma weapons technology networks tracked in the main US research paper. The main investigation identifies technology transfer pathways between the US (MARAUDER/FRCHX/CFR lineage), Russia (Avramenko/Avangard/Stupitskiy lineage), and China (CAE/HFRC/Military-Civil Fusion lineage). Italy appears nowhere in these networks.
