PURSUE was activated May 8, 2026 by the Trump administration as an interagency effort involving the White House, ODNI, DOE, DoD/AARO, NASA, and FBI. It publishes declassified UAP records in tranches. Release 1 (May 8, 2026) included 159-161 declassified UAP files — the largest government release in history. Release 3 (June 12, 2026) included 53 documents, 10 digital renderings, 6 videos, and 3 NASA audio recordings. Among the Release 3 documents are FBI files (FD-1057s and FD-302s) describing 'plasma orbs' — repeated observations of UAS/UAP appearing as plasma orbs in the northeastern United States. FBI special agents corroborated the observations with 'full line of sight.' Witnesses described 'an intense, bright light' hovering, 'a red sphere that was about one meter in diameter' with 'a white plasma sun approximately the size of a basketball' at its center. Multiple orbs were observed: 'two orbs then moved together.' The descriptions are consistent with ESTS plasma physics — a spinning plasma toroid that appears as a luminous sphere with a bright core.
