DGA Maîtrise NRBC: Modelling and simulations
Summary
This document outlines the modelling and simulation capabilities of DGA Maîtrise NRBC for evaluating biological and chemical risks. It introduces the Reachback NRBC capability and the OXER-BC simulation software, detailing their applications in military operations, protective equipment specification, and national security.

Modelling and simulations
Catchline Evaluating biological and chemical risks
Background Reachback NRBC (“expertise NRBC à distance” in French) is a DGA Maîtrise NRBC skill which extends across a number of areas of expertise at the centre:
- The chemical or biological analysis, in a laboratory, of suspicious samples
- The evaluation of biological and chemical risks through modelling and simulation in order to identify danger areas
OXER-BC is a simulation software which, on the basis of a scenario (source term, agent, environment, terrain, weather, etc.), enables the remote evaluation of biological and chemical risks by characterising the consequences of rejecting an agent. This expertise can be applied to:
- The technical specification of protective equipment
- The evaluation of NRBC situations during military operations
- National security
