Pulse-Power-Based Weaponry (DIRD 2)

AAWSAP DIRD Also: Pulse-Power-Based Weaponry (DIRD 2), pulse-power-based-weaponry-dird-2, DIRD 2, Pulsed Power Weapons Has Dossier → 0 sources

01 Definition

The DIA explicitly commissioned a study on pulsed-power weapons as part of the same program that studied aneutronic fusion and wormholes. This is the weapons application of the same physics chain that enables plasma orb weapons. Pulse power technology (capacitor banks, flux compression generators, Marx generators) is the enabling technology for MARAUDER, ESTS formation, and plasma orb weapons.

Pulse-Power-Based Weaponry (DIRD 2)

The Document

Pulse-Power-Based Weaponry is DIRD 2 of the 38 AAWSAP Defense Intelligence Reference Documents. It was commissioned by DIA under contract HHM402-08-R-0211 (AAWSAP) and produced by BAASS (Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies).

Significance

This DIRD is one of the most directly relevant to the plasma orb weapons assessment because:

1. Pulse Power is the Enabling Technology for Plasma Orbs

2. The DIA Explicitly Commissioned Weapons Research The DIA RFP identified 12 technical areas including "Armament (RF and DEW)". DIRD 2 on Pulse-Power-Based Weaponry is the direct implementation of this armament area. The DIA was not just studying propulsion or spacetime — it was studying weapons.

3. The Physics Chain Connection Pulse power connects to the broader orb weapons physics chain:

Pulse power (DIRD 2) → MARAUDER (AFRL) → ESTS (Seward) → Plasma orb weapons
    ↓
Explosive flux compression → WHIP (Davis) → Spacetime manipulation
    ↓
FRC (Teller) → Compact fusion → Plasma confinement

The 38 DIRDs and Their Relevance

At least 13 of the 38 DIRDs are directly or closely related to the plasma orb weapons physics chain:

  • DIRD 2: Pulse-Power-Based Weaponry (weapons application)
  • DIRD 9: Inertial Electrostatic Confinement Fusion (plasma confinement)
  • DIRD 13: Warp Drive (spacetime manipulation)
  • DIRD 15: Advanced Space Propulsion Based on Vacuum Spacetime Metric Engineering
  • DIRD 18: Traversable Wormholes (Davis WHIP physics)
  • DIRD 19: Antigravity
  • DIRD 30: Aneutronic Fusion Propulsion (fusion plasma)
  • Plus 6 more related DIRDs

The 38th Withheld DIRD

The 38th DIRD is the classified SECRET version of High-Energy Laser Weapons. This was withheld from public release, confirming that the AAWSAP program included classified weapons research that remains undisclosed.

Evidence Qualification

  • Documented: DIRD 2 exists in the DIA FOIA release (FOIA-00159-2018)
  • Documented: The DIA RFP explicitly listed armament as a technical area
  • Documented: Pulse power is the enabling technology for MARAUDER and ESTS
  • Inferred: The connection between DIRD 2 and plasma orb weapons
  • Not confirmed: Whether DIRD 2 specifically addressed plasma orb weapons
